Dwarf Nigerian Goats
Nigerian Dwarf goats are gentle and easily trainable. This, along with their small size and colorful appearance, makes them popular as pets. Nigerian Dwarfs give a surprising quantity of milk for their size. Their production ranges from one to 8 pounds of milk per day, with an average of 2.5. Since Nigerians breed year-round, it is easy to stagger births in a herd so the entire herd is never dry. Thus, they are ideal milk goats for most families. Their milk has a higher butterfat content than milk from full-sized dairy goats, usually about 5%, but going as high as 10% at the end of a lactation. This makes Nigerian Dwarf goat milk excellent for cheese and soap making.
Heirloom Chickens-
At Siren Song our eggs come from our heritage and endangered breeds of chickens: Ameraucanas, Blue Laced Red Wyandottes, Black Copper Marans, Blue Copper Marans, Welsummers, Turkens, Red Stars and Buff Orpingtons. Lots of thought went into the decision on what type of chickens to get. In the end though it just came down to the ones Jen really wanted. All are known to have excellent eggs, all are relatively nice, all are good mothers. So we hope you enjoy their eggs as much as we do. These are not your grocery store white eggs. Siren Song eggs come in a variety of colors- blue, green, turquoise, deep olive, terra cotta brown, chocolate brown, dark grey and bluish-green.

Freedom Ranger Chicken
At Siren Song we have chosen the Freedom Ranger for our pastured meat chicken. We have heard nothing but amazing reviews so far. But the clincher was when we found out that Alice Waters is buying Freedom Rangers from Soul Food Farm for Chez Panisse in Berkley. If it is good enough for Alice Waters then it has got to be the best. Here is a little history on the Freedom Rangers.
The Freedom Ranger Chicken breeding stock was imported from the regions of Burgundy and Brittany in France. The genetic stock is derived from the American and European old heritage breed of chicken and was developed in the early 1960’s to meet the highest standards of the French Label Rouge Free Range program. Currently, the Freedom Ranger genetic stock is used by most non-factory farm production models (alternative) all across Europe and also by small pastured poultry producers in search of a traditionally raised farm chicken - just like the "oldies", healthy and with a succulent flavor and texture.
Since Freedom Ranger Broilers are a slower growing breed, they are naturally better suited to the higher welfare and all true natural rearing systems (full pasturing, free range, organic). In the United States most modern poultry industrial production models use fast growing breeds (hybrid white synthetic Cornish crosses).
Natural instinct and behavior is preserved in the selection and growing methods of Freedom Ranger breeding stock. It goes without saying that our birds love foraging in pastures, free ranging outside, always looking for natural sunlight and fresh air, as well as ground scratching and dust bathing. We strongly believe in traditional, sustainable, and environmentally friendly farming methods, and we are convinced that allowing the chickens to do what comes naturally ensures an incredible meal for your table!

Heirloom Ducks
Ducklings
Our duck eggs come from our beloved and endangered Magpie ducks. When
they are not busy waddling through the garden eating all the bugs and
allowing us to garden without chemicals they spend their time laying
delicious, beautiful eggs.
