The Siren Song Vision

I see us standing, debt free, in the middle of acres and acres of land that we own. I look out and I see an adorable herd of mini jersey cows contentedly munching the sweet grasses. Alpacas roam about playing under the trees. In the distance I hear the gentle murmur of the ducks, chickens and turkeys as they enjoy their evening meal. A horse knickers as it runs towards the beautiful barn / USDA food kitchen.

Trees are in bloom everywhere and food is abundant. Flowers overflow the garden area and spread, fixing nitrogen across the fields. We sit happily and drink tea out on the porch and watch fruit ripen on the trees. It’s calm and happy and fun. There is art sprouting everywhere. There are people playing in the soil and creating in the studios. The gardens are beautiful and abundant- herb gardens of all types, meditation gardens, vegetable plots and a riot of plant life sneaking up and about every corner. The orchards are extensive and people come from far away to see the stunning food forest in action.

Near the creek sits the main house in all of its green glory. The solar panels glint along the roof line and the living roof puffs out around it. There are people gathered there for another amazing meal and good conversation. They eat cheese made from the milk of our cows and drink wine from the grapes in the vineyard. The studio by the lavender lined road is still lit up and humming with the gentle energy of artists creating in the fading evening light. Their art spills from the studio and wends itself into the landscape. The people there are happily playing with the glass and clay. It too is faced with solar panels which fuel most of the art being produced. The energy not provided by the sun is captured by the gorgeous wind turbines that rotate quietly in the field. It’s simple and beautiful and exciting every day.

Our plates are filled with fruits, veggies, meats and dairy from our farm and our souls are fed by the land, the animals and the art created there. We are one with the community without being inside of it and the people there enjoy coming to the land to celebrate all of the time. We share our soap, eggs, veggies, honey, wine, milk, cheese, oil, meat, fruit, herbs and love with them and in exchange they help support our dream and make it their own. The wind whispers siren songs through the trees, ripples the surface of the pond and whips off the rocks in the creek. That’s what I see…
